Individual Progression
Your character’s journey through Classic, Outland, and Northrend is broken into 18 usable stages numbered 0–18 (stage 11 is retired). Each stage opens the next tier of dungeons, raids, quests, vendors, and profession caps for that character.
Status: LIVE — progression is enabled and advances per character. Players can review their stage and switch among stages they have already earned with
.ipstageor/dip; they cannot use it to unlock content ahead.
At a glance
- Progression is per character. Your account shares storage, professions, and appearance collection, but not progression.
- 18 usable stages: values
0through18; stage11is retired. Automatic or saved progression that lands on11is treated as stage10, but.ipstage set 11is rejected. - Three broad eras: stages
0–7are Classic,8–12are Outland, and13–18are Northrend. - Boss kills and key quests advance you. The whole eligible group can advance, not only the player who lands the killing blow.
- Stage scrolls are mailed to you when you reach a stage. They are account-bound and can be sent to alts.
- Scrolls never change your level. They only move progression forward.
- The level-60 boost sets stage 8. It skips the Classic stage climb, not the rest of the journey.
- Stage 10 gates the custom Well of Eternity raid. The raid itself is staff-arranged; see 20 — Custom raids and endgame.
- You can choose among earned stages.
/dipopens the selector;.ipstage get,.ipstage set <0-18>, and.ipstage costare the player commands. They do not unlock unearned content.
How to use progression
- Play the current tier. Do the dungeons, quests, and raids that are already open. You do not need to “activate” a stage.
- Kill the tier’s key boss or finish its trigger. The stage advances for every eligible group member at loot distance. See the table below.
- Check your mail. A delivery of 100 progression scrolls for the new stage arrives from the Postmaster.
- Keep or share the scrolls. They are account-bound. Mail them to an alt that is behind, or keep them for a future character.
- Use a scroll on the alt. The alt jumps forward to that stage if it is below the scroll’s stage. A scroll cannot be used at or above the character’s current stage.
- Do not expect a level change. The scroll changes progression only. A level-60 character remains level 60.
- Re-check trainers and vendors. New stages unlock profession caps, recipes, quartermasters, and attunements. See 07 — Professions and gathering.
- Move to the next tier. Open the next dungeon or raid, repeat the pattern, and pass the scrolls to your alts.
- Switch only when you mean to.
.ipstage set <stage>moves you between stages you have already earned. Log out and back in afterward so unlocks, phasing, and trainers settle.

Stage 10 and the Well of Eternity: the custom Well of Eternity is a level-70, 10-player raid that requires stage
10. It has no confirmed public entrance; staff arrange access. See 20 — Custom raids and endgame.
How the key triggers work
- Raid bosses: Ragnaros, Onyxia, Nefarian, C’Thun, Kel’Thuzad (40), Malchezaar, Kael’thas, Illidan, Kil’jaeden, Kel’Thuzad (Wrath), Yogg-Saron, Anub’arak, the Lich King, and Halion.
- Quest triggers: Bang a Gong, Simply Bang a Gong, Chaos and Destruction, and Into the Breach.
- Boost trigger: the level-60 boost sets stage
8directly. - Group credit: the group must be eligible for the kill and at loot distance. Do not leave the boss area before it dies.
- No partial credit: a wipe does not advance you. Only the kill or quest completion does.
- No stage skipping through normal play: you cannot use a scroll for a stage at or above your current stage.
Choosing an earned stage
The progression selector is a content-access switch, not a catch-up mechanic. It can move you to any stage you have already reached, including back down to an earlier one. It cannot open a stage you have not earned.
| Command or UI | What it does |
|---|---|
/dip or /dinkleip | Opens the visual progression selector. |
.ipstage get | Shows your current stage and your highest selectable stage. |
.ipstage set <0-18> | Moves you to a valid stage at or below your highest selectable stage. |
.ipstage cost | Reports whether changing stages costs currency. Currently it does not. |
- Stage
11is invalid..ipstage set 11is rejected. Use10, or12if you have already earned it. - No unearned skips. The server does not allow you to jump to a stage you have not reached.
- Rewinds are allowed. Moving back down can be useful for experiencing earlier content with a leveled character. Your saved highest stage remains selectable, so you can move forward again without re-earning it.
- Log out and back in after a change. The addon warns that progression changes settle fully after a relog.
- The first arrival is still earned. Boss kills, quests, and stage scrolls are how a stage becomes available in the first place.
Stage scrolls
When you reach a stage, the Postmaster mails you 100 account-bound scrolls for that stage.
- Account-bound: send them to your own alts by mail.
- Forward-only: a scroll advances a character below the scroll’s stage. It cannot lower a character.
- No level change: the scroll does not raise or lower your level.
- No stage 11 scroll: stage
11is retired. - Replenishment: if the original mail is missing, the server can restore the scroll mail on login.
- Mail sender: Postmaster, entry
34337.
Scroll item references

|---|---|---|
8 | 811608 | Move an alt into Outland |
10 | 811610 | Catch an alt up to the Well of Eternity gate |

13 | 811613 | Move an alt into Northrend |
18 | 811618 | Bring an alt to the end of progression |

Commands & UI
| Command / UI | What it does | Player-accessible? |
|---|---|---|
| Stage scroll mail | Delivers 100 scrolls for a reached stage | Yes, automatic |
| Use a stage scroll | Advances an alt below that stage | Yes |
| Mail a stage scroll | Sends account-bound scrolls to an alt | Yes |
/dip, /dinkleip | Opens the progression selector | Yes |
.ipstage get | Shows current and highest selectable stage | Yes |
.ipstage set <0-18> | Switches to a valid earned stage | Yes, earned stages only |
.ipstage cost | Shows whether a stage change costs currency | Yes |
The commands are dot commands: .ipstage, not /ipstage. The slash command /dip opens the visual selector. Neither command can unlock a stage you have not earned.
NPC references
| Name | Entry | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Postmaster | 34337 | Sender of progression scroll mail |
| Adventure guides | 750002–750009 | Starter-zone travel; see 02 — Starting experience |
| Boost NPCs | 732714–732721 | Level-60 boost, which sets stage 8 |
| Chromie | 939009 | Well of Eternity related NPC; see 20 — Custom raids and endgame |
No NPC is required to advance a stage. Kills and quests do it automatically.
Tips
- Do not delete stage scroll mail. It is your account’s catch-up mechanism.
- Mail scrolls to alts before you need them. A stage-8 scroll is useful the moment an alt dings 60.
- Scrolls are forward-only, but stage selection can rewind. Use
.ipstage setto move between stages you have already earned. It still cannot unlock anything ahead of your highest earned stage. - Stay near the boss for the kill. Being alive but far away, or having loot rights disabled, can cost you credit.
- Do not expect the boost to skip Outland progression. It sets stage 8; stages 9–18 still need to be earned.
- Check profession caps after each stage. The trainer cap moves from 300 to 375 to 450.
- The Well of Eternity is not a normal level-70 queue. It is staff-arranged. Do not plan a pick-up group around it.
- Use
.ipstage, not/ipstage. The player commands are.ipstage get,.ipstage set <0-18>, and.ipstage cost. The visual selector is/dip.

Live config: IndividualProgression.Enable=1, StartingProgression=0, ProgressionLimit=0, SimpleConfigOverride=1, EnforceGroupRules=0, VanillaPowerAdjustment=1, TBCPowerAdjustment=1, QuestXPFix=1, QuestMoneyAtLevelCap=1, RepeatableVanillaQuestsXP=1, PlayerChange.Enable=1, PlayerChange.AllowUnearnedProgression=0, PlayerChange.RequireCurrency=0, PlayerChange.CurrencyItem=0, PlayerChange.CurrencyCount=1, and EnableSetRepCommand=0.
The player command surface is .ipstage get, .ipstage set <0-18>, and .ipstage cost at SEC_PLAYER, with Console::No. get prints the current and highest selectable stage; set accepts valid stages at or below the highest selectable stage, cancels pending progression credit, supports deliberate rewinds, and saves the earned maximum; cost reports whether a currency charge is configured. Stage 11 is invalid. PlayerChange.AllowUnearnedProgression=0 prevents players from selecting unearned stages; RequireCurrency=0 makes changes free.
The GM command surface is .ip get, .ip set <0-18>, .ip tele, .ip setbot, .ip setrep, .ip pvp, and .ip attune at SEC_GAMEMASTER, not .ipstage. .ip setrep is disabled by EnableSetRepCommand=0. Do not document .ipstage tele, .ipstage attune, .ipstage setbot, .ipstage setrep, or .ipstage pvp; those subcommands do not exist on the player command table.
The module mails item 811600 + stage and casts spell 978200 + stage; stage 11 is retired, so automatic or saved states are normalized to 10 and a direct .ipstage set 11 is rejected. Stage 10 is also the gate used by the custom Well of Eternity. If a stage mail is missing, the module restores it on login when the character’s state calls for it. Keep the player and GM command tables separate in the wiki: .ipstage is player-facing, .ip is staff-only.
