Custom Raids and Endgame

Push into the Dark Portal, walk the unfinished Hall of Thanes, return to the Well of Eternity, and run old instances as level-70 or level-80 Timewalking.

Status: LIMITED — the Dark Portal raids and Timewalking are live. Limited: Hall of Thanes is an empty exploration space with no encounters, and Well of Eternity requires progression stage 10 and has no confirmed public entrance. Disabled: there is no raid browser, no flexible raid size, and no separate hard-mode difficulty.

  • Dark Portal raid size: 25 combatants including NPCBots. A 26th combatant is rejected. Vanguard accepts 10.
  • Well of Eternity size: 10 players. It does not scale to 25 and does not advance individual progression.
  • Hall of Thanes: the map and entrances work, but the dungeon has no gameplay content. It is not a leveling dungeon.
  • Timewalking: the instance scales up to the group’s bracket; players are not scaled down.
  • No raid browser: all raids here are entered manually or through the Timewalking addon.

How to use

Battle for the Dark Portal

  1. Travel to Hellfire Peninsula and speak to Riftwarden Vaelira 68028 at approximately (-265.3, 967.8, 84.3), outside the Dark Portal approach.
  2. Choose the 25-player, level-70 option. Vaelira creates a normal raid if needed and checks your level, raid bindings, and the 25-combatant cap.
  3. Enter the raid. The raid leader speaks to Marshal Auric Dawnward 68000 inside at (-250.98, 1074.22, 54.31) to begin each assault.
  4. Clear three waves, then the assault boss. Repeat for all three assaults.

The three assaults are:

AssaultWave sizeBoss
First12 enemiesWrath-Lord Drazkul 68001
Second15 enemiesInfernus the Siege Breaker 68002
Third18 enemiesPit Commander Vorath 68003

Waves keep arriving on a timer even if the previous wave is not dead. Killing the current wave accelerates the next one. The boss waits until all three waves are cleared.

  • Drazkul: a Fel Command Banner 68038 appears during the fight. A living player must right-click it and finish a 3-second work cast within 12 seconds. There is no second menu choice. Success cancels the next Cleave or Rend, reduces command pressure, and makes Drazkul take 25% extra damage for 10 seconds. NPCBots cannot complete the banner; a player or a player-piloted raid Warframe must do it.
  • Infernus: a blue cooling circle appears. One living player must stand inside its 4.5-yard radius for three continuous seconds within a 16-second window. Success removes five Gathering Heat stacks and grants a 10-second exposure window. NPCBots cannot channel it.
  • Vorath: a purple sealing circle works the same way and delays reinforcements. Vorath also marks players and defenders with bombardment circles; move out before the explosion.
  • Defenders: the expedition has 24 ordinary defenders. If all 24 die, or if no living player or owned NPCBot remains for five consecutive checks, the assault fails. The raid leader can ask Auric to Reform the expedition; previously killed bosses stay loot-ineligible.
  • Lightwells: two Lightwells hold four charges shared across all three assaults, with a 20-second cooldown. Aegis grants defenders 40% damage reduction for 15 seconds; Mending heals defenders over 12 seconds. Using them does not forfeit hard mode.
  • Medical supplies: the raid leader receives five Expedition Medical Supplies at the first assault. Each use heals up to five living wounded defenders for up to 20,000 health each. The remaining charges persist for the saved raid and do not count as adventurer assistance.
  • Adventurers: Vindicator Seradus 68029 and Warlord Kargan Ironbound 68030 wait near the marshal. The leader or an assistant may call one per assault. Each can be used once per expedition attempt, cannot be healed, and leaves after the assault. Calling either one forfeits hard-mode rewards for the saved raid.
  • Raid Warframes: two Lightforged Warframes are staged in the raid. Piloting either one also forfeits hard-mode rewards.

Hard mode. There is no separate difficulty setting or separate lockout. A raid remains hard-mode eligible until it calls an adventurer or pilots a raid Warframe. An eligible Vorath kill adds one extra hard-mode neck piece to his loot. The Unbroken achievements additionally require that no ordinary defender died.

Loot. All three bosses use the custom level-70 loot pool:

  • 49 BoP epics, item level 115–125, item IDs 901100–901148.
  • Three items per boss from separate equal-chance groups.
  • Vorath always awards one weapon or shield, one armor piece, and one of four unique-equipped trinkets:
    • Severed Chain of Command — attack power and a melee/ranged haste proc.
    • Heart of the Boundless Breach — spell power and a Shadow discharge after spell crits.
    • Last Light of the Expedition — spell power and a protective absorb when a heal leaves an ally below 50%.
    • Bulwark’s Dying Ember — stamina and an on-use absorb plus armor.
  • A hard-mode Vorath kill adds one ilvl 136 neck from 901170–901173.
  • Custom epics use TBC disenchant table 67 and require Enchanting 300 to disenchant.

Achievements.

  • 60103 / 60104 — Unassisted: defeat the final assault without calling either adventurer or piloting a raid Warframe, in the 10-player and 25-player versions.
  • 60105 / 60106 — Unbroken: the same conditions, plus no ordinary defender deaths. These award titles.
  • 60107 — Without the Blade: a Well of Eternity achievement, covered below.

Vanguard of the Dark Portal

Vaelira offers a second option: “We are ready to defend the Dark Portal. (10 players, level 60).” This opens map 902, a smaller version of the same three-assault scenario.

  • Level 60, 10 combatants, including NPCBots.
  • Same three assaults and bosses, tuned for the lower bracket.
  • 49 ilvl 95 rares, item IDs 902100–902165, plus four ilvl 105 hard-mode necks from 902170–902173.
  • The same banner, cooling, sealing, defender, Lightwell, adventurer, and hard-mode rules apply.
  • Vanguard has its own saved raid and achievement tracking. Do not expect level-70 loot or the 25-player item budget.

Hall of Thanes

  1. Enter Old Ironforge through the lower Ironforge stairway. The Old Ironforge gate at approximately (-4842.9, -1061.8, 502.1) is keyless on this realm.
  2. Use either instance portal:
    • Western entrance 60090 at (-4822.64, -932.07, 399.04).
    • Eastern entrance 60092 at (-4772.54, -965.09, 399.04).
  3. Both portals land the party at (-100, 0, 11.045) on map 903.
  4. To leave, use the exit trigger 60091 at (-110, 0, 11.045). It returns you to (-4822.47, -937.22, 399.14).

What is actually there: a five-player normal dungeon flagged at minimum level 10, recommended level 13, with no upper level cap. The map contains decorative gameobjects only. There are no creature spawns, mobs, bosses, encounters, quests, loot, achievements, or completion state. The instance script deliberately sets the boss count to zero.

  • Do not use it to level. There is nothing to kill and no dungeon-complete reward.
  • Do not fall. A kill floor below Z -80 kills living, non-GM players.
  • Ghost return works. The graveyard is beside the Old Ironforge entrance.
  • Why go: sightseeing, roleplay, screenshots, or staff event staging. It is a Limited exploration space, not finished content.

Well of Eternity

Access is the first obstacle. Map 939 has no public areatrigger_teleport and no confirmed portal in the open world. A staff member must place the raid inside. Chromie 939009 is part of the story inside the instance, not an entrance NPC. Do not wait in the Caverns of Time for a portal that is not there.

  • Level 70, 10 players, normal only.
  • Progression stage 10 is required.
  • The raid is a permanent raid save once a boss dies. Cache loot requires that permanent save.
  • Boss kills do not advance individual progression. You need stage 10 before you enter; clearing the raid does not advance your stage.
  • The post-Mannoroth exit returns the raid to the Caverns of Time at (-8173, -4746, 33.7).

The run. Follow the story NPCs and use their gossip to move the raid between wings. The instance is a sequence, not an open sandbox:

  1. Courtyard. Illidan leads the assault. Close the courtyard portals and hold the line while the story advances. If the courtyard needs a retry, Illidan offers a restart gossip.
  2. Azshara’s palace. Queen Azshara 939002 is invulnerable. Kill three waves of two enchanted magi — six magi total — while avoiding Glacial Ray lanes and destroying or controlling spectral hands before their fear lands.
  3. Mirror split. After the third magi wave, Azshara splits into a mirror image and casts ten Glacial Ray beams instead of five. Leave the marked lanes within three seconds. Finish the council to end the encounter; Azshara is not a normal damage race.
  4. The shores. The Aspects and the story NPCs move the raid to the Well’s shore. Defend the shore, then follow Illidan, Tyrande, and Malfurion toward Mannoroth.
  5. Mannoroth. Varo’then opens the finale. Mannoroth uses Fel Nova (a green soak circle), Firestorm, portal waves, and portal backlash circles. When Varo’then’s magical blade drops, a player can click it to hurl it at Mannoroth and break his armor.

Boss notes.

  • Peroth’arn 939001. Fel Eruption and Shadow Cleave. At 60% he begins a 7-second drain; Illidan interrupts it and the raid enters a 20-second hunt. Avoid the eight hunting eyes for the full hunt. If no eye finds a player, Peroth’arn is enfeebled for 15 seconds. If an eye catches someone, he leaps to that player, applies Easy Prey, and buffs himself. He frenzies at 20% and berserks at eight minutes.
  • Queen Azshara 939002. The magi council is the real objective. Glacial Ray lanes are lethal if you stand in them. Spectral hands apply a four-second fear and can be killed to end it early. The final split doubles the ray count.
  • Mannoroth 939003. Varo’then’s phase comes first. The blade is a clickable creature near the boss; one player must click it and land it on Mannoroth. Fel Nova requires players to stand in the green circle; Firestorm and portal backlash require movement out. Do not let the portal demons overwhelm the raid. Mannoroth has a 9-minute berserk and a 10-minute finale timeout.
  • Without the Blade 60107. Do not throw Varo’then’s blade. The fight is harder, but the achievement requires leaving the blade unused.

Loot. Each boss awards two guaranteed items and a 25% chance at a third from a 12-item, item-level 138 epic pool.

  • Peroth’arn drops directly from his corpse.
  • Royal Cache of the Highborne 939001 appears after Azshara.
  • Cache of the Ancient Aspects 939002 appears after Mannoroth.
  • Caches open only after their encounter is complete and only for players who are permanently saved to that exact raid instance. Confirm the lockout before trying to loot.

Timewalking

Timewalking is the repeatable endgame path for old dungeons and raids. It is opened from the companion addon, not from a gossip NPC.

  1. Be exactly level 70 or level 80. Levels 71–79 cannot start a run.
  2. Form a group of the correct size. Dungeons need a party; raids need enough members for the raid size, and the module converts the group to a raid. Owned NPCBots count toward the size, but the server does not generate fill bots.
  3. Type /tw or /timewalking to open the selector. It shows today’s destination, your bracket, your group count, and any error.
  4. The group leader types /tw start and accepts the confirmation. All online group members are teleported. The pending window is 300 seconds.
  5. Everyone must be in the same bracket — all 70 or all 80. A member already inside the destination blocks the start.

Today’s destination is deterministic for the day and bracket. It changes at server local midnight, not at the 04:00 instance reset. There is no reroll. Sunday and Friday use the raid pool; Monday through Thursday and Saturday use the dungeon pool.

Karazhan5328–1080 only
Black Temple56420–2580 only
Gruul’s Lair56520–2580 only

Scaling. Players are not scaled down. The instance is scaled up to the bracket:

  • Global: health 1.50, mana 1.10, armor 1.00, damage 1.15.
  • Bosses: health 1.70, damage 1.33, armor 1.00.
  • Level mapping: dynamic floor 0, dynamic ceiling 2, boss offset 3. Bosses cap at 73 in a level-70 run and 83 in a level-80 run.
  • Per-map scaling in the database stacks with the global values.

Rewards. Timewalking adds personal bonus items on boss death; it does not replace the old boss loot.

  • Level 70: 1–2 Badge of Justice 29434 per boss.
  • Level 80: 1–2 Emblem of Heroism 40752 per boss.
  • Molten Core: one badge per boss instead of the normal 1–2.
  • Lucky Coin 643641: 15% chance per boss.
  • Spend badges and emblems at their usual vendors; there is no separate Timewalking vendor.

Death and reset. If you die inside an activated Timewalking instance and release, you respawn at that map’s Timewalking entrance, not the normal graveyard. Raid entry does not require a premade raid group, but Timewalking raids still enforce their minimum group size. The reset hour is 04:00; the account instance cap is five per hour.

Tips

Dark Portal

  • Bring players for the objectives. NPCBots cannot click the banner or channel the cooling/sealing circles. Assign one player to each.
  • Use the banner window. Breaking the banner gives a 25% damage window. Save cooldowns for it.
  • Bait bombardment away from defenders. The circles prioritize living players; moving them away from the defender line preserves the expedition.
  • Do not hoard Lightwell charges. Four charges across three assaults are easy to lose if you wait for a perfect moment.
  • Spend medical supplies before a wipe, not after. They heal living defenders only.
  • Decide on hard mode before the first assault. Calling an adventurer or using a raid Warframe locks the saved raid out of hard-mode necks.
  • Unbroken is stricter than hard mode. You also need zero defender deaths.
  • NPCBots count toward the 25/10 cap. Dismiss extras before asking Vaelira to form the raid.
  • No separate hard-mode difficulty. Do not look for a difficulty toggle; the flag is automatic until you use assistance.

Hall of Thanes

  • Treat it as a walk, not a dungeon. There is no reason to bring a full group unless you are touring it.
  • The kill floor is real. Stay on the floor and do not jump into the lower geometry.
  • The exit trigger is at the landing. If you get lost, return to (-110, 0, 11.045).
  • No loot means no reason to reset. There is no instance completion or daily reward.

Well of Eternity

  • Do not wait at the Caverns of Time. There is no public portal. Ask staff before gathering the raid.
  • Confirm the raid lockout before looting caches. A pending bind or a different instance ID blocks the cache.
  • Avoid the eyes, do not fight them. The hunt ends after 20 seconds; killing eyes is not the objective.
  • Hug the safe side of the Glacial Ray lanes. The final split fires ten beams. Move early, not at the last second.
  • Kill spectral hands quickly. Their fear can chain into a ray or a soak failure.
  • Do not attack Azshara during the council. She is invulnerable; the magi are the objective.
  • One player handles the blade. Pick a reliable clicker before the pull.
  • Soak Fel Nova. The green circle is a soak, not a hazard to run from.
  • Leave the blade on the ground for 60107. Throwing it forfeits the achievement.

Timewalking

  • Check /tw before forming the group. The daily map may be a 25-player raid or a 5-player dungeon; the group size is not interchangeable.
  • Recruit for the exact bracket. A 79 cannot join a 70 run, and a 70 cannot join an 80-only raid.
  • Bring your own bots. There is no auto-fill, but owned bots count toward the minimum and maximum.
  • Do not walk in normally. The addon start is what activates Timewalking scaling.
  • Use the entrance respawn. A death release inside an active run is faster than running back from the graveyard.
  • Watch the instance cap. Five instances per hour per account is easy to hit while chaining dungeons.
  • Spend badges on your main. The bonus currencies are personal, not group loot.

Limits and configuration

Dark Portal

  • Maps: 901 for the 25-player level-70 raid; 902 for the 10-player level-60 Vanguard.
  • Sizes: 25 combatants including NPCBots; 26 rejected. Vanguard: 10.
  • Level: 70 for the main raid; 60 for Vanguard.
  • Difficulty: no heroic, no flexible size, no separate hard-mode lockout.
  • Tuning: all ranks on map 901 use 1.80 health / 1.375 damage / 1.375 spell damage in the installed map-rate configuration.
  • Immunities: bosses and the major elites are stun-immune; all enemies are banish-immune. Do not build the pull around stuns or banishes.
  • Loot: 49 custom epics, three items per boss, four trinkets, one extra hard-mode neck roll on Vorath.
  • No farming after a reform: killed bosses stay loot-ineligible for that saved instance.
  • No raid browser and no LFR.
  • No custom daily lockout reset. Use the normal raid reset and the automatic cooldown reset described below.

Hall of Thanes

  • Map: 903; five-player normal; minimum level 10; recommended level 13; no maximum level.
  • Entrances: western 60090 and eastern 60092 in Old Ironforge; exit 60091.
  • Content: none. No creatures, encounters, bosses, loot, quests, achievements, or completion.
  • Boss count: zero.
  • Void death: enabled below Z -80.
  • Instance rates: all Hall of Thanes creature-rate multipliers are 1.0, but there are no creatures to apply them to.
  • Ghost return: beside the Old Ironforge entrance.
  • Do not add it to a leveling route. The recommended level is inherited from the dungeon-access row, not from finished content.

Well of Eternity

  • Map: 939; level 70; 10-player raid; normal only.
  • Progression: individual stage 10 required.
  • Access: no confirmed public entrance and no areatrigger_teleport. Staff must place the raid.
  • Completion: boss kills do not advance individual progression.
  • Lockout: permanent raid save after the first boss death; caches require that exact save.
  • Loot: 12-item ilvl 138 epic pool; two guaranteed items plus a 25% third chance per boss; Azshara and Mannoroth use caches.
  • Achievement: 60107 Without the Blade.
  • Exit: post-Mannoroth gossip returns to the Caverns of Time.
  • No heroic, no flex, no raid browser.

Timewalking

  • Maps: 17 total — 11 dungeons and 6 raids.
  • Brackets: exactly level 70 or exactly level 80. No 71–79 and no mixed bracket while RequireSameBracket=1.
  • Schedule: Sunday and Friday raid pools; Monday–Thursday and Saturday dungeon pools. Selection is deterministic per local day and bracket.
  • Daily boundary: server local midnight.
  • Group: 5 for dungeons; 20–25 for ZG, MC, AQ20, BT, and Gruul; 8–10 for Karazhan.
  • NPCBots: count toward group size; no auto-generated fill.
  • Leader: required to start.
  • Pending window: 300 seconds.
  • Already inside: a member already inside the destination blocks a new start.
  • Dungeon groups: rejected by 5-player destinations; convert to a party first.
  • Scaling: players are not downscaled; health/mana/armor/damage and boss values scale as listed above.
  • Rewards: Badge of Justice at 70, Emblem of Heroism at 80, Lucky Coin at 15%; old boss loot remains.
  • Death release: returns to the Timewalking entrance while the run is active.
  • Instance rules: the core waives the premade raid-group requirement; Timewalking still enforces its own group size; reset hour 04:00; five instances per hour per account.
  • No Wrath dungeon pool, no raid browser, no solo mode, no custom daily dungeon reward.
  • No separate Timewalking vendor or currency lockout. Normal instance saves and boss states still apply.

Raid cooldown reset

This is automatic. It is not a player command and it does not clear raid lockouts.

  • Triggers: a raid boss kill, a raid encounter failure, or a boss reset after at least 20 seconds of combat.
  • Who gets it: every player currently in the raid instance.
  • What clears: Bloodlust/Heroism Exhaustion and Sated, cooldowns shorter than 10 minutes, the module’s configured long cooldowns, and pet cooldowns.
  • What does not clear: heroic dungeon cooldowns, raid lockouts, boss states, or loot eligibility.
  • Heroics: EnableForHeroics=0, so this does not apply to heroic dungeons.
  • No command: do not ask for .resetraid or a player reset command.

Admin note

Dark Portal. Maps 901 and 902 are registered as instance_dark_portal_siege and instance_dark_portal_vanguard. Vaelira 68028 is the neutral entrance NPC; Auric 68000 starts assaults; the champion and Warframe restrictions are enforced by IsHardModeEligible(). Hard-mode necks are normal creature_loot_template rows with LootMode=2 on Vorath 68003/68103; the script adds LOOT_MODE_HARD_MODE_1 only when no champion and no Warframe were used. Do not describe this as a separate hard-mode difficulty or separate instance. The live map-rate profile for map 901 is 1.80 HP / 1.375 Damage / 1.375 SpellDamage; code fallbacks are lower, so keep the active configuration with the build. The 25/10 cap counts players plus owned NPCBots; 26 is rejected on the 25-player version. Boss loot is protected by a saved loot mask, so a reform does not restore already-killed boss loot. If the MCR profile, loot-mode condition, or cap changes, update this document and index.md.

Hall of Thanes. Map 903 uses instance_hall_of_thanes with SetBossNumber(0). There are no creature spawns and no encounter state. Entrances are areatrigger rows 60090/60092 and exit 60091; the Old Ironforge gate 900950 is keyless via Data1=0 and its locked flag removed. HallOfThanes.VoidDeath.Enable=1 and HallOfThanes.VoidDeath.Z=-80.0. The dungeon-access row is minimum level 10, recommended 13, five players, normal. Do not advertise it as a finished dungeon until creatures, encounters, loot, and completion state exist.

Well of Eternity. Map 939 uses the FTAWell scripts and instance_fta_well_of_eternity. The access row is level 70, 10 players, and the individual-progression stage 10 check is external to the instance script. There is no areatrigger_teleport row for map 939 and no public world portal; staff must place the raid. The caches 939001/939002 require a permanent bind to the exact instance ID (bind->perm and matching InstanceId), and their loot uses references 939201/939202. Boss kills bind the raid and do not advance individual progression. The post-Mannoroth exit is hard-coded to Caverns of Time (-8173, -4746, 33.7). If a public entrance is ever added, update this document, index.md, and the progression documentation before announcing it.

Timewalking. TimeWalking.Enable=1; PendingRunSeconds=300; RequireGroupLeader=1; RequireSameBracket=1; AnnounceSelection=1; Reward.Enabled=1; Reward.ChanceMultiplier=1.00. Global scaling is Health=1.5, Mana=1.10, Armor=1.00, Damage=1.15; boss scaling is Health=1.7, Damage=1.33, Armor=1.00; level mapping is DynamicFloor=0, DynamicCeiling=2, BossOffset=3. NPCBot auto-detection is on for entries 70000–70586. The 17 maps and the Sunday/Friday raid schedule live in mod_timewalking_map and mod_timewalking_schedule; the boss bonus rows live in mod_timewalking_boss_reward. The daily seed uses the server’s local calendar date, not Instance.ResetTimeHour. Do not add a Wrath dungeon to the pool without checking the source-level ranges, scaling, and reward rows. /tw is a client addon command; the server does not expose a gossip NPC or a chat-based schedule command.

Raid cooldowns and instances. ModResetRaidCooldowns.Enable=1, EnableForHeroics=0, CombatTimeRequiredInSeconds=20, DoResetArenaSpells=1, DoResetPetCooldowns=1, Spells="42650, 2062, 2894, 1122", and Categories="26". The module resets spells only; it does not touch lockouts or loot masks. Core instance settings are Instance.IgnoreRaid=1, Instance.ResetTimeHour=4, and AccountInstancesPerHour=5. If you change the schedule or enable a disabled mode, restart or reload the module as appropriate, then re-test leader start, mixed-bracket rejection, NPCBot counts, the five-instance cap, and the entrance respawn before updating the player-facing text.
