Professions, Gathering, and Training

Learn a profession once and keep its progress across the account, train everything at one NPC, and get a small XP bonus from gathering.

Status: LIVE — shared professions, gathering XP, the multi-trainer, faster crafting, and automatic gathering tracking are enabled.

At a glance

  • Profession progress is account-wide. The highest skill, tier, and recipe knowledge on the account is shared with every character that has learned the profession.
  • Recipes are shared too, but a character must still learn the profession to receive the shared data.
  • The module does not grant free professions. You still need to learn each profession from a trainer and respect the normal primary-profession limit.
  • Secondary professions sync as well: Cooking, First Aid, and Fishing.
  • Gathering gives XP. Mining and Herbalism give the most; Fishing gives less; Skinning gives none.
  • Crafting gives no XP.
  • Crafting is much faster. Cast times are multiplied by 0.1, which is 10x faster than normal.
  • Herb and mineral tracking is automatic. You do not need to recast Find Herbs or Find Minerals.
  • Rakka the Multi-Trainer can train class, profession, weapon, riding, and pet skills in one place.
  • Progression caps apply: 300 skill before Outland, 375 in Outland, 450 in Northrend.

How to use

  1. Learn the profession from a trainer. Shared progress only applies after the character has learned the profession.
  2. Train at any normal trainer or at Rakka. Rakka combines the native trainer catalogs; prices, prerequisites, reputation discounts, and progression caps still apply.
  3. Check your skill after login. The account’s best skill and known recipes are applied when you log in.
  4. Gather normally. Herbalism and Mining automatically keep their tracking active. Fishing pools are not automatically tracked; use Find Fish if you have it.
  5. Craft normally. Crafting casts are 10x faster. Quality-of-life addons can help with recipe browsing, but they do not change the result.
  6. Use the reagent bank. Materials stored there are account-wide and available to every character. See 03 — Reagent bank.
  7. Train riding and pet skills at Rakka if you do not want to visit multiple trainers. See 17 — Travel and quality of life for mount costs.

Shared profession rules

  • The account store keeps the highest base skill, tier, and learned recipes.
  • A character must have the profession learned to receive shared data.
  • Racial, equipment, and temporary skill bonuses are not shared. Only base progress is.
  • Abandoning a profession does not erase the account store. If you relearn it later, the shared progress is still there.
  • Trainer restrictions still apply. You cannot learn a recipe your character is not eligible for, and you cannot exceed the progression cap.
  • The normal primary-profession limit still applies. Sharing progress does not let one character learn every primary profession.
  • Faction and level do not block shared rank data, but the character still needs the required tools and trainer access.

Gathering XP

ProfessionXP behavior
MiningSmall XP award per gather; the best of the gathering professions
HerbalismSmall XP award per gather; same tier as Mining
FishingSmaller XP award per catch
SkinningNo profession XP
Crafting professionsNo profession XP

Gathering XP is a bonus, not a leveling route. Questing and dungeons remain much faster.

Crafting speed and tracking

  • Crafting cast multiplier: 0.1, meaning 10x faster.
  • Herb tracking: automatically restored for Herbalism.
  • Mineral tracking: automatically restored for Mining.
  • Fishing pool tracking: not automatic. Use Find Fish or track pools manually.
  • Other tracking: the module preserves your other tracking bits; it does not replace the whole tracking state.

NPC references

NameEntryLocationRole
Rakka601061Shattrath; a second copy is on GM Island (staff-only)Multi-Trainer for class, professions, weapons, riding, and pets

Ordinary profession trainers, specialization trainers, and gathering trainers are standard world NPCs. Rakka routes their native catalogs; he does not replace their data.

Tips

  • Learn the profession on every character that should use it. Shared progress does not grant the profession.
  • Do not abandon a profession to “reset” it. The account store persists, and relearning restores the shared progress.
  • Use Rakka when you need several trainers at once. It saves trips for weapons, riding, and pet skills.
  • Check your progression cap before buying a rank. At stages 0–7 the cap is 300; at 8–12 it is 375; at 13–18 it is 450.
  • Train before you gather in a new expansion. A higher cap lets you skill up on higher-level nodes.
  • Do not expect Skinning XP. It is set to zero on this realm.
  • Use the reagent bank for bulky materials. It is account-wide and does not need a banker.
  • Fishing is the slowest gathering XP. Fish for the profession, not for leveling.
  • Use /proflib to plan recipes. It is a recipe browser; it does not craft for you.

Limits and configuration

  • Shared professions: enabled; secondary professions included.
  • New professions granted by sharing: no.
  • Primary profession limit: normal server limit still applies.
  • Skill caps by stage: 300 at stages 0–7, 375 at 8–12, 450 at 13–18.
  • Crafting XP: 0.00 for all crafting professions.
  • Gathering XP: Mining 0.01, Herbalism 0.01, Fishing 0.0025, Skinning 0.00.
  • Crafting speed: 0.1 cast multiplier (10x faster).
  • Auto tracking: herbs and minerals on; fishing pools off.
  • Rakka spawn: Shattrath is public; GM Island copy is staff-only.
  • Jewelcrafting/Inscription visibility: visible at all stages, but still subject to progression caps.
